Take on Medicon! (Year 2012)

This April when hit the submit button on a webpage with a logo as basic as a yellow doughnut, little did I know what it really leads to, what lies ahead.
All I wanted was a platform to put forth my research work that I took up in my medical college.

Apprehensions kept creeping into my mind about how would it be to stay in MGIMS, Wardha all those five days in Medicon! [For readers (if any :P), Medicon is India's largest medical undergraduate students' research conference - one of its kind.]

 A novice- my first Medicon - this long stay - a new place - amongst new faces - This was definitely something out of my comfort zone. Now I can say, what I experienced was greater than of the sorts I had imagined.

What initially started as a platform to present my research work, later became an opportunity to hear out to the likes of Dr. Abhay Bang, something that stimulated me the most to go and be on my own. 
Partly, the push came from those around me, my seniors (especially Ramya Di) and my guide.

My apprehensions were futile indeed!



Medicon connected me with like-minded people and that made the whole of it very interesting.

The Clinical side!

Running about in the reeky wards is finally doing some good! It was all so thrilling when I, as a medico, for the first time percussed an oversized chronically diseased liver, palpated a visible apex beat, auscultated a stenotic valve and observed those toes fanning out just on tracing a curvy stroke. Boy! Did I just I ellicit a Babinski! ( :D :D :D :D And my heart was pounding with joy! ). All this in a week! Saw my first Bell's, the rare cerebellopontine angle tumor and a few days back, the facies of a six - year 'mucopolysaccharidotic' kid.Everything still vivid in my head! Just wish I get to see an asterixis now! Experience here with me the joy of discovering an AS murmur over heart of an eighty-year old! :P Beating like it would just come out! Made my day! And now, having written this, I wonder, if I really am that painfully enthusiastic medical student ! Well, even if I am, I like it this way! ;)

What I fear....

Sometimes I get this thought..that it is the fear to under-perform that bothers me and limits me at times, by which i do not mean fear to under-perform in others' eyes (That really doesn't bother me so much) ..but my own.. I fear that I may just fail to effectuate a task with 'that' level of perfection...Perfection is a very relative term I feel.. varies from person to person..Perfection is basically achieving the standards you've set for yourself..which obviously can never be same for two individuals.. And I've been fighting this fear like hell...Complicated!!??!! I've been trying not to think of results prior to doing something.. Well, I believe in doing whatever I do with perfection..not that I achieve it always..but I can say I do aim at it..whether I get it or not (though I believe forces in universe ensure that you get that something you really 'want') and I easily get annoyed when I come across people who actually start off a task with ...

Eklavya - the greatest archer !

My favourite mythology character has been एकलव्य (Eklavya) He is the invincible, the epitome of honor and sacrifice! The truest disciple with a true hunger to learn ! He always craved for being trained by The Guru Dronacharya. On being rejected from Drona, he constructed a statue of the Guru from the mud Drona walked on. He would hide in the bushes and learn how Drona trained the Pandavas. He self-practised in front of the statue and became an archer of exceptional prowess. He just never gave up! ( It’s been hell of 9 months that I have peeped in here! Finally my love for blogging has pulled me back. So readers, if any,(lol) please excuse me for the blogger’s thoughtblock in my post.)
