Introspecting over the recent events that have galvanized the country, it is nothing less than failure of a nation to protect its people. Ours is a freedom of no real value. The pseudo sense of well-being that we like to keep ourselves in has been shaken! Please realize it was all much more than just 'taking the wrong bus' . Its about a pathetic mindset of the society we live in. It is a society which can at best teach its women not to get raped but not its men to respect girls! I would say, each one of us encourages crime by not speaking against it. This case was in highlights, being a very heinous act, there are several such cases that don't even get reported,  victims do not speak up. All the girls who travel by public transport know what is the magnitude of the harrassment we face, much more than the subtle term 'eve-teasing' could ever convey. Random comments, lewd stares, 'accidental' touching, being stalked; It ends nowhere. Have we got used to ...

This April when hit the submit button on a webpage with a logo as basic as a yellow doughnut, little did I know what it really leads to, what lies ahead. All I wanted was a platform to put forth my research work that I took up in my medical college. Apprehensions kept creeping into my mind about how would it be to stay in  MGIMS, Wardha  all those five days in Medicon! [For readers (if any :P), Medicon is India's largest medical undergraduate students' research conference - one of its kind.]  A novice- my first Medicon - this long stay - a new place - amongst new faces - This was definitely something out of my comfort zone. Now I can say, what I experienced was greater than of the sorts I had imagined. What initially started as a platform to present my research work, later became an opportunity to hear out to the likes of  Dr. Abhay Bang , something that  stimulated  me the most to go and be on my own.  Partly, the push came from those aro...

Talking of the year that is nearing its end, I feel it has been a GREAT one indeed! 2011  was the year that 1. Had the most wonderful beginning - One holiday. Place such as Himachal. Good friends around.  A cold morning. Snow view from our duplex suite. Soft music playing in. Tranquility. You are bound to love life! 2. Gave me things I love the most. I traveled on two more occasions around the second half of the year. Th gave me a Kindle and a Dell XPS. Me, the gadget-lover! 3. Saw me enjoying my subjects a lot more now, than I used to a year ago. Not to think of grades when you study is important. And this year, I can say, I tried that.  I got myself into a research project in Paediatrics, interacted with some 125 parents. Here's the text of the Commencement address delivered by the late Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, on June 12, 2005. Something I find worth archiving on my blog.. I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories. The first story is about connecting the dots. I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. Running about in the reeky wards is finally doing some good! It was all so thrilling when I, as a medico, for the first time percussed an oversized chronically diseased liver, palpated a visible apex beat, auscultated a stenotic valve and observed those toes fanning out just on tracing a curvy stroke. Boy! Did I just I ellicit a Babinski! ( :D :D :D :D And my heart was pounding with joy! ). All this in a week! Saw my first Bell's, the rare cerebellopontine angle tumor and a few days back, the facies of a six - year 'mucopolysaccharidotic' kid.Everything still vivid in my head! Just wish I get to see an asterixis now! Experience here with me the joy of discovering an AS murmur over heart of an eighty-year old! :P Beating like it would just come out! Made my day! And now, having written this, I wonder, if I really am that painfully enthusiastic medical student ! Well, even if I am, I like it this way! ;)
